Concert of Hope
Jeremy Riddle, a dynamic Christian Worship Artist, partnered with StreetLight to raise money to help the poor and homeless in our community. Jeremy and his band's awe-inspiring performance was held at the Hylton Memorial Chapel. Jeremy's performance not only resonated exceptional musical ability but reflected a heart of humility and a passion for God. Jeremy said that pleasing God is a priority in his life. Throughout the concert, Jeremy worshiped our Lord — pausing occasionally to pray and speak about those things that please the heart of God. Half way during the performance, Jeremy took a break to teach what worship is truly all about. He began to explain that worship is anything that brings pleasure to God, and that pleasing God probably has very little to do with the songs that we sing. Sharing from the Bible, Jeremy challenged the audience to examine what God says about worship. He noted that in Isaiah 58, God commands His people to care for the poor — to literally, “... spend yourself on behalf of the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter.” Jeremy declared that worship is more about ministering to the lost, the least, the downtrodden, the broken, the marginalized people of society; the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the imprisoned, and the sick. Jeremy closed by singing his song, “Among the Poor”, which flowed out of the revelation he has received that he could grow close to God by ministering to the poor. Just as powerful, was the opening act! Featuring a local talent, Mt. Olive Baptist Church's choir and dance team was superb! Their performance was inspirational, also reflecting a heart to worship and glorify God in a spirit of excellence, through dance and song.
